The vastly experienced Andrew Warriner will be using his experience to help revive the Balderstone Band.

Andrew Warriner will be helping the Balderstone Band

The Balderstone Band has announced that the respected player, conductor and adjudicator Andrew Warriner has agreed to both play and work with the band as a musical advisor and mentor to MD Alaistair Greenhalgh.

Andrew will attend as regularly as commitments will allow and also give help to players around the stand and to the conductor.

Massive boost

A spokesperson told 4BR: "This shows that the band is moving in the right direction to achieve our aim of getting a full band once again and securing our future.

This is a massive boost as until last year we had never contested in our 145 year history. We then entered the Whit Friday marches and won at the Heyrod contest."

MD Alaistair Greenhalgh added: "With Andrew on board we can get even more seats filled and have an exciting future ahead of us."

So if like us you value a strong, independent perspective on the brass band world - then why not consider becoming a supporter and help make our future and that of a burgeoning brass band movement more secure.

So one less cappuccino then?
