Coleshill Youth enjoy their trip north

The members of Coleshill Youth Band certainly enjoyed their trip to take part in the famous Hardraw Scar contest in Yorkshire — despite the weather...

  Despite the damp conditions, the Coleshill players warmed up the audience with their playing

Coleshill Youth Brass recently made a 150 mile journey from the west of England to north Yorkshire to compete in the annual Hardraw Scar contest.

And although the weather could have been a bit brighter for their first appearance at the event, they band certainly made a great impression and had a fantastic time.

Soggy feet

Despite soggy feet and some damp music they provided wonderful entertainment under MD Stephen Fagg for the enthusiastic audience and adjudicator Mareika Gray to enjoy — including a cracking march, music from 'Peer Gynt', a touch of The Beatles and even 'Tea for Two'.

Handy pocket money

The band was very happy with their performance and returned home with a trophy and with four of their youngest players, Andrew Livingstone, Oliver Tizick, Sam Edwards and Toby Ball each receiving £25.00 from the organisers.

December 16 • The band are seeking a front rank cornet player. The band is made up of players from all walks of life not just the police and has interesting and varied engagements both here and abroad.

December 16 • We currently have vacancies for front and back row cornets, tenor and bass trombone and Bb bass. We are a friendly 4th section band based in Ilkeston Derbyshire just a few minutes from M1 J25&26. . We rehearse Thursday 7.30-9.30 and Sundays 6.30-8.30.
