The Pontins Championships were initiated in 1974 an have since become one of the most popular brass band contests for bands from Championship to Fourth Section and Youth Bands.
The contest is held at the Prestatyn Holiday camp in North Wales in late October each year and prize money is generous. Winners have included many of the top bands in the country, although in recent times the contest is too close to the National Finals to attract the very top bands.
The contest is a set work test piece each year.
