DID YOU KNOW?
The Lower Section National Finals started in 1945 when Vaughan Morris took over the running of the Nationals as part of his work for sponsors the Daily Herald newspaper.

Eight areas send representatives to the Finals, with qualifiers depending on the number of entrants in each section. There were initially two lower sections, 2 & 3, with the 4th Section added in 1947 and a First in 1992. Since 2004 the Finals have been held at the International Conference Centre in Harrogate.
