Christmas prezzies for Blackburn

Two early Christmas gifts have been found in the Blackburn & Darwen bandroom.

Christmas has come early to Blackburn and Darwen, who have received two gifts in the shape of Lewis Taylor on 2nd baritone and Tim Jackson on bass trombone.

Lewis has been promoted from our intermediate band, Darwen Brass, and previously played for the Junior Band.

Hard work and potential

Welcoming Lewis to the band, Chairman Tariq Ahmed told 4BR: "As someone who came through our three-band system myself, I am delighted to see that the hard work that has gone into making it work is giving someone with Lewis’s potential and enthusiasm the opportunity to develop within our organisation. We now have a great blend of youth and experience on the Euphonium/Baritone section and this gives us further cause to be very excited about the potential for success in 2008."

New material

Tim, the new addition to the Trombone section, has previously played with Tintwistle and Parc & Dare. He is a composer and Doctor of Music and is currently working on some new material for brass band. The band are hopeful that some of his work could be showcased at future concerts.

Exciting plans

The band have also announced exciting plans to embark on a foreign excursion in the summer of 2008. Although precise details are not yet available, a tour team has been appointed and given the task of making all the necessary arrangements.
