Houlding set to coach

Chris Houlding, principal trombone with Opera North and a well known figure in the band world, will offer specialist tuition, coaching and advice to the brass players participating in the North Cheshire Concert Band's rehearsal course at the Conwy Centre, Anglesey from Friday 11th February until 3pm on Sunday 13th.

The course is focused around one of the UK's finest concert bands but also includes chamber music, brass ensembles and the possibility of individual lessons. There are still vacancies for brass players who are interested in the weekend.

There is also a conducting course aimed at music teachers, students and amateur conductors of all types of ensemble. Topics to be covered will include baton technique, score preparation and rehearsal technique but the emphasis is on practical work. It is envisaged that the class will form its own ensemble and that the more advanced students will have the opportunity to conduct the full wind orchestra. The Wind Orchestra and conducting course will be directed by Mark Heron and Russell Cowieson.
