The British Open Challenge results

26-Sep-2001
Competition results now available.

Sorry for the delay in getting you the results of the 4BarsRest British Open Challenge competition.

Due to the unexpected number of entries (423) it has taken a little longer than we thought to go through each one to see how you all got on. Below you will see a break down of how you all got on.

For those of you who missed the competition, the challenge was to correctly pick the prize winning bands in the order they came at this year's British Open.

0 correct: 47%
1 correct: 29%
2 correct: 17%
3 correct: 4%
4 correct: 2.5%
5 correct: 0.5%
6 correct: 0%

That means there were 2 persons with 5 correct.

1st entry (Mr James Robbins)

1. YBS
2. Dyke
3. BAYV Cory
4. Grimethorpe
5. Tredegar
6. Williams Fairey

2nd entry (Name not published on the wish of competitor)

1. YBS
2. Dyke
3. BAYV Cory
4. Grimethorpe
5. Carlton Main Frickley
6. Williams Fairey

This was as close as we could get. As you can see, it was the prize winning performace of Whitburn that foxed not just these two entries but some 418 of the entries. That's right - only 5 of the 423 entries had Whitburn anywhere in the chosen 6(7).

So it was all on the their choices for 5th position. As it happened, both Tredegar and Carlton Main had days they'd rather forget, although Tredegar (14) gave Mr J Robbins the prize with the better result over Carlton Main (17).

Mr. Robbins has chosen the following CDs

1. Regionals 2002 - Doyen DOYCD128
2. Europeans 2001 - Doyen DOYCD 125 (Double CD)

We hope those of you who entered enjoyed the challenge and we look foward to receiving your entries to our National Challenge coming in October.
