World Rankings: July update

Fairey (Geneva) Band makes a dramatic return to the top ten in the latest World of Brass—4barsrest.com Rankings following its victory at the recent English National Brass Band Championships at Preston, the Stockport-based band’s first major win since the 2003 National Championships at the Royal Albert Hall.

Other upwardly-mobile bands are Reg Vardy and Skelmanthorpe, which both performed well at Preston, and Whitburn and Kingdom Brass, following their appearances in the Final of the West Lothian Festival.

French Open - won by Brass Band Rijnmond
Eurobrass - won by Provincial Brass Band Groningen
Queensland Championships - won by Brisbane Brass
Battle of the Bands - won by Dronfield
Bugle Contest - won by Camborne Town
Note that results for the recent New Zealand Championships are not included in this latest rankings release.
The next update will follow September’s British Open Championships, at which 14 of the current top-20 bands will be trying to make an impression on the Defending Champion’s massive lead in the rankings.
