Johnstone hit by scrap criminals9-Jun-2012
The Johnstone Band has been targeted by scrap metal criminals.
The Johnstone Band is the latest band to suffer from scrap metal criminality.
The Scottish band’s rehearsal room was broken into between 10.00pm on Tuesday 29th May and 7.00pm on Tuesday 5th June, with thieves making off with 2 BBb basses, 2 EEb basses, 1 euphonium, 1 tenor horn, 3 cornets, 1 baritone, 3 trombones and 4 bells from a set of tubular bells.
With the current scrap metal rate of £2.60 per kilo it is thought likely that the instruments may well find their way to some unscrupulous scrap metal merchant, as the instruments were not taken in their cases.
Anyone with any information should contact Johnstone Police Station or Clare Thomas, Johnstone Band Manager on 07976572666.
