National Youth Brass Band of ScotlandScottish Youth set for exciting climax

15-Jul-2012
The National Youth Brass Band of Scotland will be celebrating the climax to their forthcoming course in considerable style at St Andrew's University.

The wonderful surroundings of the world famous St Andrew’s University will provide the backdrop to a series of celebration concerts by the three bands that make up the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.

Exciting climax

The Scottish Brass Band Association will be hosting the event at the University’s Younger Hall on Saturday, 4th August, which promises to provide an exciting musical climax to the 2012 annual residential course.

Also included this year will be involvement from the National Youth Choirs of Scotland (NYCOS), whilst the main Youth Band will also perform at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival under the baton of guest conductor, Bramwell Tovey.

Culmination

The busy schedule culminates with the celebration concert day on Saturday 4th August, when over 160 performers will present an eclectic mix of musical styles, promising to be a rare treat for everyone attending.

The Children’s Band of NYBBS will launch the event with their contribution at 3.00pm, to be followed by the performance of the Reserve Band of NYBBS later that afternoon. The flagship senior NYBBS present their concert at 7.30pm the same evening.

New and exciting possibilities

Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA told 4BR: "This year’s course is full of new and exciting opportunities. As always, there will be a lot of hard work balanced with a lot of fun and personal musical development.

The concerts from all three bands are set to offer something special, with the course repertoire providing the players with a superb variety of challenges that are sure to delight the audiences."
