Mnozil slide into Glasgow for Trombone Weekend

A fantastic weekend of all things seven-slided is being celebrated in Glasgow this weekend — headed by the totally irrepressible Mnozil Brass

Internationally renowned trombonists are already sliding into Glasgow for a four day festival this weekend to celebrate the music and performers of the iconic brass instrument.

The Glasgow Trombone Weekend, started yesterday (22nd June) and runs to Sunday 25th June featuring performances from the likes of superstars Christian Lindberg, Simon Johnson and Jorgen van Rijen with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, while the awesome Mnozil Brass will also delight audiences.

Glittering line-up

Meanwhile, a glittering line-up at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland includes Matthew Gee (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), Gordon Campbell (John Wilson Orchestra and BBC Big Band), Christian Jones (Opera North) and Katy Jones (The Hallé) who perform during a packed series of recitals on Sunday, June 25th.

Organised by the British Trombone Society, Sunday will include a performance from Scottish traditional music / brass crossover Braw Brass, while there will also be opportunities for attendees to take part in massed ensemble sessions.

April 24 • Exciting opertunity for a principal cornet player to lead our friendly band. We also would be excited to hear from percussionists with experience in tuned percussion and kit. We are currently in the Championship section and have a busy schedule in 2024.

April 24 • We have lots of cornets and horns but a little thin in the bottom end. Our players are happy to move around to help new players join the band, if you play baritone, euph or bass please give us a try. We rehearse every Sunday and Thursday at 7.30pm
