World Rankings: September update

The latest World of Brass – 4barsrest.com Rankings see no change in the top three, while Tredegar shoots up to fourth place,

Following the Welsh band’s historic victory at the British Open Championship, Tredegar rise to its highest ever position in the rankings.

Fairey (Geneva) Band’s recent fine form sees it return to the top six for the first time in five years, while Johnstone Silver Band’s surprise victory over top-20 bands, Whitburn and Co-operative FuneralCare, at the Land O’ Burns Contest sees it rise a massive 50 places.

New Zealand Brass Band Championships — won by Woolston Brass
Kiveton Woodland Brass Festival — won by Crofton Silver
Durham County BBA — won by GT Group Peterlee
Doctor Martin Trust Entertainment Contest — won by Reg Vardy
Welsh National Eisteddfod — won by Tredegar

The next update will follow the National Championship Final in London, where Tredegar will hope to extend its outstanding run of form that has seen it win six times in the last seven contests, while Foden’s and Black Dyke will look to oust Cory from the top spot that it has occupied since November 2008.
