Co-op continues to lose pounds

The Co-operative Band Crewe is losing and gaining pounds at the same time — thanks to a dozen weight watchers.

Crewe

The fast disappearing members of the Co-operative Band Crewe are celebrating their reduced numbers after their most recent ‘weigh in’ revealed that the twelve players have now lost an amazing 15 stones (210 pounds) in just two months — raising very nearly the exact in real pounds for the band in the process.

Fitter not fatter

The twelve pledged to lose weight & be ‘fitter not fatter’ in time for the North West Area Championships and there a great deal of anticipation at the final weigh-in, as everyone needed to have shed two pounds in the final week for their ambitious collective target to be reached.

Improved result

The reduced weight also contributed to the band improving on last year’s result, climbing to an encouraging 7th place in what is considered one of the toughest top section Area contests of the year.

Our twelve slimmers were exhilarated to have done so well, and some of them have vowed to continue their weight loss up to our next contest in MaySarah Sparkes

Great day

Contest Secretary Alan Smart told 4BR: "It was a great day out after much hard work. We compete against the likes of Foden’s, Fairey, Wingates and Leyland, so to come 7th gives us great encouragement."

Flugel player Sarah Sparkes, who took responsibility for weighing the dieting band members every Wednesday before rehearsals added: "Our twelve slimmers were exhilarated to have done so well, and some of them have vowed to continue their weight loss up to our next contest in May."
